Frequently asked questions

A. The downloads cost 50p each. Some local authorities have purchased downloads for teenagers in their area to access free of charge. If you can access free downloads, you should receive information of a separate ‘keyword’ to text. Remember that data charges for the videos will still apply.

A. This will depend on the tariff you’re on. If you have unlimited data access (even on Pay as you Go) there’ll be no cost for downloading and watching the videos. However, on some tariffs there’ll be a data charge which will vary depending on your network. It’s a good idea to check your tariff before downloading the videos.

A. Yes! The service is completely confidential – when you text into the service all we’ll know about you is your age and gender. If you opt in for updates on new topics or apply for a freebie, the information you send will only be used by GoGetInfo and will not be passed on to anyone else except the provider of the freebie you may have applied for e.g. Pasante. If at any time you decide you no longer want to receive information from GoGetInfo you can text STOP to 60110.

A. All you will see on your phone bill is the number 60110 – the topic won't be shown, just the number.

A. There are a few phones which can’t play videos because they’re too old! We’ve tested as many handsets as possible and 99% of them can play the videos. You’ll need to make sure your phone is ‘WAP enabled’. Ask your network provider to help with this or see if a a local phone shop can help.

A. Unfortunately many organisations don’t yet have mobile-friendly (or mobile optimised) websites so not all the links are easy to view on a mobile. If you’ve been through all the information on the relevant download and still want to find out more, try calling the numbers given on the ‘Further help and advice’ section on each topic or make a note of the website and then look on a computer.

A. You may need to reload the site.

A. No, GoGetInfo is available across all networks.

A. No, it is a mobile information service which gives access to specific topics via specially designed mobile phone websites (WAP sites). The service is accessed by texting a keyword to a 5 digit shortcode, a link to the service is then sent back to the user.

A. Providing your phone is data enabled, you can access the service. If you aren't sure, please check before you text any of the keywords.

A. All new phones are, or can be, data or WAP enabled and have been for some time now. However, some young people may have a very old 'hand me down' which may not be data enabled. If you are experiencing difficulties accessing the service, check with your service provider or call into your local mobile phone shop. Some tariffs may exclude data access but this is very rare.

A. You can see a brief extract from each video via the website under 'Topics'. We are looking to offer the full service via our website at some stage in the future. This will allow users to access all topics in a similar way to a mobile phone. You will be required to give your mobile number and it will be deducted from your account just like any mobile service.
